Why Choose HeatSign for Paper & Cardboard?
Paper and cardboard are combustible materials that require surgical thermal control. At HeatSign, we provide a precision ecosystem designed to master wood fibers without the risk of fire or damage.
Anti-Charring Precision
The window between a “crisp mark” and a “burnt edge” is microscopic. Our systems use ultra-fast galvanometers to sublimate paper fibers instantly, delivering clean, dark marks with zero yellowing or scorching.
The “No-Scorch” Parameter Library
Skip the trial and error. Every HeatSign machine engineer can suggest optimized settings for everything from 80g cardstock to heavy corrugated board, ensuring perfect contrast from Day 1.
Fire-Safe Industrial Design
Safety is paramount when marking flammable materials. Our systems are fully compatible with industrial fume extractors to keep your workspace clean and fire-safe.
Stable Beam for Fine Detail
Consistency is key for luxury branding. HeatSign’s industrial-grade CO2 sources deliver a perfectly stable beam profile, allowing for intricate filigree and micro-text that remains sharp and tactile, even on delicate recycled fibers.

FAQs
I thought only CO2 lasers worked on paper. Why use the HS-FL10B?
While CO2 is the industry standard for high-speed lines, our 455nm Blue Light is highly absorbed by wood fibers. It delivers excellent contrast on paper and cardboard for lower-volume or mobile applications. Plus, the 2W Infrared switch allows you to mark metal tags on the same equipment—something a CO2 laser can’t do.
Will the laser burn or set fire to my paper/cardboard?
It’s a valid concern, but our systems are designed for sublimation, not combustion. By using high-speed galvanometers and precise “pulse control,” the laser removes the top layer of fiber so quickly that heat doesn’t have time to spread and ensure a clean mark without the fire risk.
How does the cost compare to traditional Inkjet printing?
While the initial investment for a laser is higher, the ROI is significantly better. You eliminate the “Ink Tax” (expensive cartridges, solvents, and ribbons) and the downtime caused by clogged printheads. Most of our customers see the machine pay for itself within 12–18 months through consumable savings alone.
Can the laser handle different paper colors and recycled materials?
Yes. CO2 lasers react to the wood fiber itself, not just the pigment. Whether it’s brown kraft paper, white cardstock, or recycled gray board, we can tune the parameters to achieve high-contrast results. We recommend a Free Sample Test to find the perfect setting for your specific material grade.
Does the marking process produce smoke or odors?
Since the laser evaporates a tiny amount of paper fiber, it does produce some smoke and a “burnt paper” smell. We highly recommend pairing your system with one of our Industrial Fume Extractors. This keeps your workspace air clean and protects the laser lens from dust buildup.
What kind of daily maintenance is required?
Unlike inkjet printers that dry up if unused, lasers are virtually maintenance-free. Your only real task is occasionally wiping the protective lens with an alcohol swab to keep the beam sharp. No clogs, no leaks, and no messy cleanup at the end of the shift.
Can it keep up with my high-speed production line?
Absolutely. Our HS-CLY40 is specifically designed for “Marking-on-the-Fly.” It can synchronize with conveyor speeds of up to 100 meters per minute, delivering sharp batch codes, date and batch data without needing to stop or slow down your production.
Is the software difficult to learn for my operators?
Not at all. We have integrated touch screen software and other software is “Plug-and-Play” compatible with Windows and supports standard files. Most operators can master the basic marking and serialization functions in less than 30 minutes of training.
Stop Guessing. Start Marking with Precision.
Paper fibers react differently depending on moisture, density, and coatings. Don’t invest based on a hunch—invest based on proven results.
